Our new hotel, the Mona Plaza Hotel, opened on February 27th in Lower Dorcol.
The ceremony was attended by the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, and about 500 guests, including industry experts, representatives of numerous organizations, associations, state bodies and media, as well as employees of our company and Mona, the investor of this project.
An investment of 30 million euros and a hotel in which more than 150 people have found work will contribute to the affirmation of the lower Dorcol, and thus to the development of the hotel and tourism of Serbia, as it was announced at the opening of our hotel in the heart of the old part of the city. The Mona Plaza Hotel was completed ahead of schedule, and besides being a new meeting place for local and foreign business people, it is a true guardian of heritage, as it was built on the site of Serbia’s first chocolate factory.
“The Mona Company has invested a lot of money in this part of the city and influenced its appearance and development, and is yet to change it. There is no stronger, more powerful motive than family reunification based on respect, love and a common interest in the prosperity and preservation of the family. A big thank you to the Momirović family and we wish them even more success and investment in Serbia, “said the President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic, emphasizing that Mona is an example of a strong private sector that should be an important pillar of the Serbian economy.
“By investing in the Serbian economy, hotel industry, and tourism, our intention is to contribute to an even greater growth of the economy through job creation, tax growth, and competitiveness, as well as to strengthen Mona Hotel Management for long-term investments. This € 30 million investment is the result of our 30-year vision since its inception. More than 2,500 people are involved in the Mona Plaza project, and we wish to thank them for their unselfish efforts,” said Tomislav Momirović, president of the board of Mona Hotel Management.
The Mona Plaza Hotel is a kind of homage to the cultural and historical heritage, considering that the site of the present hotel was once the first chocolate factory created by the famous merchant and industrialist Kosta Shonda. We are proud to take on the nurturing of a “sweet” tradition that marked one period in this attractive location, so that all guests, in addition to local and international cuisine, can enjoy a unique approach to serving food, taste the original Olga cake and other desserts from the Shonda pastry shop.
The hotel covers an area of almost 20 thousand m2 and is built according to the latest technological solutions in the hotel industry. The hotel contains 170 accommodation units, a conference, and banquet space with a capacity for over 1,000 people, a gastro bar and restaurant and parking, and a fitness and wellness center since the spring of 2020.
